Sheriff's Sales

The Lake County Sheriff Civil Division is made up of four offices with the main office being in Crown Point. Satellite offices are located in Gary, Hammond, and East Chicago. The primary function of the Civil Division is to serve summons, subpoenas, evictions, foreign writs, writs of execution, collect delinquent state taxes for the Indiana Department of Revenue, and conduct the Sheriff's foreclosure sales of homes which is held on the first Friday of each month at the Lake County Government Center auditorium. Registration is at 8:00 AM.

Officers that are assigned to the Civil Office provide service to Lake County Superior and Circuit Courts in performing their duties, while also serving civil papers from other jurisdictions.

The Lake County Civil Offices are open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Crown Point Office

The Lake County Sheriff's Department serves approximately five thousand civil process papers per month.
