Inmates are housed at the release facility for non-violent crimes and have been sent by the courts to serve there time at the Work Release Center. The inmates are allowed to go to and from there jobs and if they don’t have a job, they can volunteer their time to work with the community services program (also known as the Road Crew). The Officers in charge of the program thoroughly check each inmates background before they come to work on the Road Crew. Each inmate has to have a non-violent history to qualify for the program.

The program was set up to assist Cities in Lake County with picking up trash along the public roadways. The inmates work as a team and help build up their self esteem. They feel good by helping their community and other people. Since May of 1997, 175 inmates have participated in this program.
